The Central Library has been started functioning since 2009, where University campus temporarily suited at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Patna. Since then, it is the focal point of all user community of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. The Central Library meets the academic and research needs of the academic community, and its resources are consulted by scholars from across the country.

The Central Library is fully RFID enabled and automated library integrated with open-source ILMS (i.e. KOHA to provide computerized service) to CUSB academic community at large along with RFID service with biometric enabled automation system facilitates self-services KIOSK, Self Book Drop Box, anti-theft detection system. Library user can access online catalog through Web-OPAC which enables speedy searching of library collections including books, journals, periodical, awarded PhD thesis and dissertations from any terminal within the University campus.

It is the first Central Library, CUSB in the state of Bihar, which has given remote access facility to its users, through this facility library users can access and download Central Library’s e-Resources (e-books, e-Journals, e-databases) online anytime and from anywhere. Under this facility, all the subscribed e-resources of the Central Library have been made on a single platform, these e-Resources can be accessed from anywhere with a username and password.

With the guidance of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, the Central Library is marching towards its goals by taking some good initiatives like providing fully air-condition facility in Reading Room, and Reference Section, remote access provision, separate server for library operation, RFID operation and CCTV cameras for proper surveillance of the Library.

At present, the Central Library holds about 45260 print books including Reference Books, Encyclopedia, Handbooks, Year Books, Reports, Dictionaries, 6900 + eSS INFLIBNET e-Journals, 6400 + e-books, 143 + print Journals, 5 e-databases, and 1199 + back volumes of print Journals. Apart from this, the Central Library also holds 26 PhD thesis, and 496 dissertations of various field of studies. Presently, 18 magazines and 11 newspapers are being subscribed by the Central Library.
